I know, I know, I know. It's been over a month since I have posted. It's because I have a wonderful new boyfriend. I've fallen in love with this boy, he's just the best thing that has ever happened to me.

These were simply just for fun and I LOVE the way they turned out!

These were for my boyfriend's best friend's graduation from Oregon State University. Clearly their colors are orange and black. I love the stamp because from afar it kinda looks like a crackle!

A week of manis!!

Hi guys, Sorry, it's been awhile since I've posted. SO I have THREE manis to share with you!! So, here we go!

I really liked this one, but the pink peels, so it lasted a day. Base is Sinful Colors Beautiful Girl. I stamped with Konad Special red polish using plate BM213. ♥♥And then there's:

I didn't really like this one at all, so this one only stayed for a day. But it was fun to try. The base is China Glaze Peace on Earth. I stamped using an unnamed Silver polish from L.A. Colors using plate BM215. ♥♥This is the current one, and I really like it!!!

This is I obviously used Ruby Pumps by China Glaze. I stamped with Sinful Colors Black on Black and used plate BM209. ♥♥Which is YOUR favorite??

Cinco De Mayo mani

Hi guys, I'm celebrating a day late so I did my mani today and will be going out and celebrating Cinco de Mayo tomorrow night! But I just had to share this one with you guys. I just love the way that it turned out.

I used BM219 for the tips with Green Konad special polish.I used BM06 for the peppers with Red Konad special polish.
I never ever thought I would use the peppers and I was flipping through my album of plates and saw it and was like "OMG, perfect!! I won't ever use this plate again!" So I didn't clean it after the last time I used it. Oh shush, you know you do it too! LOL!
Does anyone else have Cinco de Mayo plans???

Alrighty, I'm not normally one to get my nails done too often. I enjoy doing it myself. But every once in a while I want to be pampered. In this case, my best friend just got her nail technician license and needed practice. She did some pink & white acrylics for me. I added the glitter to the tips and of course two coats of Seche Vite!!

Didn't she do such a great job? She also doesn't use a drill or electric file. This is all by hand. You rock, Dahianna. I love you!♥♥♥I got my Bundle Monster plates yesterday too!!! After I get tired of the simplicity of these nails I will experiment with them. For now, here is a pic!

I spent hours and hours trying to come up with a creative watermark and recruited two computer saavy friends, and finally decided--Just typing my blog name on the photo is far easier. I like the simplicity of this anyhow. Sorry Tara and Mark for not using your art. But thank you anyways. But the details on the mani:I used China Glaze "First Class Ticket" for the base. I used L.A. Colors in Silver for stamping, plate BM19.

Crazy Autism Awareness Mani!

So, here is another mani created for Autism Awareness month:

For the thumb I used a nameless blue L.A. Colors Color Craze && Sinful Colors Nail JunkieI used that same blue L.A. Colors for the pointer, middle and pinkie, with a silver glitter striper.For the ring finger I used China Glaze Peri-wink-le (can you tell that I LOVE this color?) and some rhinestones.
Of course, all is topped off wit Seche Vite.
NOW, I really need some help from all my wonderful nail blogging buddies. Can someone help me create a watermark logo? I'm thinking its about time for one of those!!!

Autism Awareness Nails

I do have to admit that I didn't even know it was Autism Awareness month. Pretty bad considering I'm a caregiver for adults with developmental disabilities. To be fair, none of the clients I currently work with are stricken with Autism. Although I have worked with clients who are, and let me tell you, they happen to be some of the most loving and wonderful people I've met! So without further ado this is what I came up with.

For the base color I used China Glaze "Secret Peri-wink-le"I stamped the clouds with China Glaze "First Mate" using my M79 Konad plateI used Konad special white polish to stamp the dove from my Chez-Delaney plate T40. Of course, topped off with Seche Vite Top Coat.
Thanks to Glitta Gloves for the genius idea of celebrating this month with blue nails!!

100th Post && Bundle Monster Contest

I got new GLASSES!!

So this post is going to be a little different than what I normally post. But I guess that's sorta the point of this blog. It's not a nail polish, it's not a fashion blog. It's just a blog about stuff that I like, my cup of tea, so to speak. LOL! Sorry, had to. Anyways, here they are.

Black, they have silver swirls on the temples! I'll be doing a mani to match soon!**I'm starting to realize I need to get a darker foundation now that I am tanning**

I actually really like these ones, because of how NOT low-key they are. I usually reach for something low key and non-noticeable when wearing glasses, but that's why I like these!

I look really surprised! LOL! But these are my favorites!! They're not crooked, my head is tilted!

So I thought I would share WHY I bought three pairs. They were all under $20! Take a visit to Zenni Optical. If any of my friends decide to order and need help or advice on what to choose and what options to include on lenses, keep in mind that I was an Optician for a few years. So I'm free for vision advice!

Bundle Monster News && Newspaper Nails!

I saw Bundle Monster's Facebook post last night and since I wasn't home, I couldn't post. I emailed Prettyfulz, so she could let everyone know! But Bundle Monster has finally received their whole set. It's gorgeous. They've also released two more sneak peeks. Also, if you look closely at the third picture you can see a few designs previously unreleased. I'm sure since they've showed us these pictures they will release all plate previews soon. So, without further ado:

Cute, huh? I love the vintagey looking tree design and aztec-like pattern.

Sneak peek numero dos. I can't get over how cute that rainbow is.

Can you spy a few designs we haven't seen yet? Hehe.

We've also been told that they will have a backing similar to actual Konad plates, and the price will be $21.99 for the set of 25 plates! How exciting, right?

Ok, here is the newspaper nails I promised.

I certainly can't take credit for this design, I did bite it from Starving Nail Addict. I think I've come up with my own method, which seems simpler.

STEP 1: Paint a base color, I chose NYC 207.

STEP 2: Cut newspaper strips.

STEP 3: Soak Cottonball with rubbing alcohol.

STEP 4: Lay newspaper on cottonball.

STEP 5: Press firmly onto nail, hold 15 seconds, remove.

STEP 6: Apply topcoat, I of course love SECHE VITE.

I used my China Glaze Ruby Pumps to stamp the lips on my thumb and ring fingers from Bundle Monster plate BM02.

For some reason I rarely do purple manicures, which is strange seeing as how its my favorite color. This time purple on lavender using my H9 plate from Chez-Delaney.

I like how this turned out. One step above subtle!

New polishes && Fun Konadicure

Hi there, I stopped by Sally's Beauty Supply and got two new China Glaze colors.

Left: Sweet Peri-wink-le (Can be light blue or lavendar depending on the lighting)Right: Ruby Pumps (Has miniscule red shimmer, going to be perfect for the Holidays)

I've been LOVING all the lace manis that everyone is trying, so I decided to do my own version. I love this one! For the flowers I used Bundle Monster plate BM12For the net I used Konad plate M79The base is the wonderful Perwinkle China Glaze above. I used Sinful Colors Black for stamping.

Here are the new plates! They finally arrived. The great net pattern used in my lace is from the far left plate. Below I will show testing of some of my favorite designs. I couldn't help but to test them out right away!

The reason that I got these plates so cheap was because they said some of the engravings weren't deep enough. I had no issues. They're all great!!!

They released another sneak peek of one of the new Bundle Monster plates today. I already posted the first one that they posted today. I just checked, and here's ANOTHER. In the same day!!!!!!! That's so awesome.

SO cute. I love the fishnet pattern, the witch's hate, the 80's pattern, the hearts, the quirky peppermint candy and I'm not really sure what that bottom pattern is. But I like it. I can't wait til this is released. Does anyone know if they are having a pre-sale? Or if you can reserve your set?

Short Nails and "BUSY" Konadicure

My nails were getting pretty long, and I was beginning to love it. And what happens when I start to love my nails? One breaks, cracks, chips or I slice it off while shaving my legs in the shower. Yup, I know its happened to you. If not, you're a LUCKY!

*SIGH*

((In case no one's noticed, I like to take some of my nail pictures in the car as the lighting is the best. That's my steering wheel. The second best place is at work in the kitchen. It's just the lighting...Daylight is always best.

So, here is a new mani, with short nails. I don't mind the length too much though. At least they're all even!

I know this one is a bit busy and that wasn't my intention. Although I still kinda like it anyways. The picture really does this manicure no justice. This was shot 1 of 56 and was the best I could get.

The base is Sinful Colors "I Love You" {{Three coats}}

Over top of that I applied Sinful Colors "Frenzy" {{New buy, look back}}

Then I stamped L.A. Colors in Silver using my Bundle Monster BM16 plate.

I'd really like to know everyone's HONEST opinions on this one. I didn't like it at first, but it realllly sparkles in the daylight.

The dots are "Innocent" by Sinful Colors.

...And I don't like it. I don't normally do my nails pink. It might be because of my skintone or that I don't own any pink clothes. I just never do my nails pink, but I bought a pink polish for Spring. So I tried it.

For this mani I used Sinful Colors in Beautiful Girl The glitter is from The Color Workshop (no I.D.)The Lollipops are from Bundle Monster plate BM02
I think this turned out a little too cutesy for me. P.S. Keep your eyes on the ever-changing clicker on the right. I'm now tracking my nail polish collection, the number will likely continue to grow!

I decided to buy a few cheap Fauxnad plates from Chez Delaney. Here they are and what design made me decide to purchase them.

I bought this one because of the clouds and criss cross pattern. Oh, so many ideas!!!

I bought this one because I love every single design on it...Other than the weird paisley looking flower.

If you know me, you know I bought this one for the leopard print! But I also LOVE the zebra heart and the bunny! With Easter coming up, I thought this one will make some adorable manis!

I bought this one solely for the tooth, cause I think it'll be cute to wear to the dentist. I also love the dove and the ladybugs!

With shipping and tax I only paid $27 for these four!

Now for the BIG news, are you ready?

Bundle Monster is coming out with a second line of plates!! EEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! There's more NEWS! There will be 25 instead of the 21. AND they've listened to our constructive criticism and the full nail designs will be a bit larger!

How adorable! I love the star tips, the piano keys and the swan! I cannot wait for more sneak peeks and for the set to finally come out. I needed to run to Walgreens to get some nail polish remover. It's basically IMPOSSIBLE for me to go there without buying at least one bottle of polish. Well, this time I bought FOUR. And a new Sinful Colors basecoat. So, here they are:

Since settling in at my new place, I've gotten back into the hang of prettying up my nails. So I wanted to share a bit with ya'll. I will try my best to give you the info on what was used.

For the base color I used L.A. Colors #52

The stripes are from my Bundle Monster BM20 plate.

The polka dots are from my Bundle Monster BM19 plate.

Both are using the white Konad polish.

The base is ELF in Dark Navy.

The crazy cool glitter chunks is Sinful Colors in Green Ocean.

The base is ELF in Dark Navy.

I painted the tips with Sinful Colors in Queen of Beauty.

The base color here is ELF FuCshia.

The cupcakes are in Konad special white.

I used the Bundle Monster BM14.

Topped off with a white rhinestone for the "cherry".

Oh and OF COURSE, all looks are finished off with SECHE VITE top coat.

Goals met so far

So, if you remember (or read back) I've set some New Years Resolutions for myself. Here I am to let you know where I stand on those: I'm 13 pounds closer to my weight loss goal.

I've quit smoking, it's been almost a month. ((I relapsed once))

I found a job that I am absolutely in love with. I'm a caregiver for adults with developmental disabilities ((Again))...

By finding myself, I've picked up and moved from Washington to Oregon, not only to be closer to my job but to be single again. I felt it was necessary for my sanity. I'm really liking it.

Hope you're all as proud of me as I'm proud of myself. Thanks for reading, again and always.

Sharing LOVE during tragic times

Sometimes you don't realize how much people care or how big some people's hearts are until tragedy strikes. I'm sure you've all heard of the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson, Arizona this past Saturday. She was shot in the head at a grocery store during a meeting with constituents. The assailant, Jared Lee Loughner won't speak of the event. He murdered 6 people (including a 9 year old girl born on another tragic day, 9/11/01) and injured 13 people including Mrs. Giffords. She is doing well, has opened her eyes a few times and gave a thumbs up. Such events really bring together a community and a nation. I have a wonderful friend, Zoë who came up with an idea to show Mrs. Giffords how much her community cares. In her own words, here it is: "I've asked many people to draw a flower for her on this sheet of paper, and I sincerely hope to get it to her somehow. I think it's more effective than just signing one's name--you've got to take the time to draw the flower and think about *why* you are drawing it. You have time to... put some love and some thought behind it. Most people, when I asked them to participate, just laughed and said, "Okay, but I can't draw". I told them, "I don't care if you can draw, as long as you can love."Thank you to everyone who has participated--I never imagined the paper would get so full. There is still room for small flowers on this sheet, but I will be creating another one as well as a collage of the drawn flowers of non-Tucsonans who email them to me. Again, thank you so much for your love and support." Isn't she such an amazingly thoughtful and loving person? Below is her first sheet of flowers.

Happy 2011! It's officially 1-1-11. ((Don't forget there will still be 1-11-11 & 11-1-11 & 11-11-11). Yup, that was unnecessary, but I'm working on two glasses of wine here. I thought it only fitting that I post a NEW YEARS post. Come on, it's a 2011! YIPPEE!! Now it's time to talk GOALS. Resolutions, friends. Below I will share with you some of my goals for the year. I'm not usually one to make goals just to break. But this year will surely be different for the fact that I feel my soul and spirit getting stronger. I know I can meet these goals. My goals/resolutions for 2011 are:

Get to my goal weight or clothing size. (( I just want to be happy with my weight. When I get there I will know. No number is really necessary)). I will be tracking this on this here blog, so please stay tuned. I will reveal later what diet I am participating in.

Quit smoking. ((This is the big one))

Whiten teeth ((this really follows the one above)).

Cut back on my coffee addiction ((This will be the most difficult. Trust.))

Find a job that I am absolutely in love with. ((I'm currently in the field that I want to be in, I just need the job.))

Find myself ((Whatever that means, but I feel that it needs to be done.))

These are very important goals to me, and I only share them with you, my devoted viewers and followers because I trust that you will root me on in my difficult journey.

KONADing my little ♥ away...

Hey guys! I just wanted to share some of my recent KONADicures with you. I don't have the ability to right click on my laptop anymore, so I'm trying to figure out how to get pictures on here from my phone. Sad, I know. So here is what I've been doing with my Monster Bundle.

This one was for my anniversary. I was wearing a navy and cream striped sweater. It's a navy ELF polish and thin white Konad anchor on my thumbs and stripes on my middle fingers. LOVE!

Custom Wells Fargo Card

Today was my day off! Oh how relaxing. NOT! I had a two-hour meeting at work this morning. But at least I got my paycheck today! But then the computers at my bank were down. So I had to go to the bank the check was drawn from. Fine. But they couldn't give me a money order for rent since I don't have an account there. So, I went to Albertson's to get a money order. Drove across town to pay rent then back across town towards home to make the car payment. Anyways, the time that I spent at Wells Fargo waiting for them to figure out the computer problem I learned that you can customize your debit card. COOL! Here's a Google Example:

You know there is also something that I have been looking for for years and I can only find it online these days. The Swan DVD. Did anyone see this show in 2004? It was basically "average" looking women getting 10+ surgical procedures to compete in a beauty contest. The most plastic wins. The show was cancelled after one season. But it was so interesting to see that some women really believe that they must change their entire exterior to be beautiful. Very interesting show.

Homemade Tortilla Chips

So, I told you that I would come back with a recipe for homemade tortilla chips, so here I am. LIST OF THINGS YOU NEED:Tortillas (30 pack for large family)Deep FrierOilSaltPizza Cutter
We use the pizza cutter to cut the tortillas since it's neater than tearing them. Then you fry 20-25 pieces for 5 minutes. It will be a few rounds, but it's worth it. Salt them and you're done!

They are SO DELICIOUS!!!!!!!
This summer for fun we've been to the river a lot. I usually take my camera wherever I go, but it has been a broken habit lately, so here is a picture of my pup at the river. Isn't she adorable?!?!!!

I know I know. I was supposed to finish the skirt a long time ago. And I did. We've been so busy lately. With me switching jobs, my hunny possibly switching jobs, the cars, the new house, school starting soon, and a few friend's weddings. It's been a lot of time away from the computer. But K has worn the skirt to two weddings. Here are a couple pictures!!

She likes snakes and lizards and other creepy crawlies. Weird kid. I was terrified of creepy crawlies when I was a kid. Still am.

Refurbed Dresser

I've been meaning to paint this dresser for two years now, our recent move motivated me. I knew that if it went upstairs unpainted it wouldn't come back downstairs to be painted. So here we are.

Crayon Candles

As promised I am back with a project. It's not the one that you expected to see pictures of, but it was still fun. I used melted crayons to decorate some candles. It was a cheap DIY, actually free. I had the candles already and stole some crayons from my step-daughter.

The first one was created by carving zig-zags into the candle, melting wax into the groove and removing the access with a knife. The second candle was created just dripping a small amount of black, grey, and silver on the candle, the third was the same but I let the colors run.
I really like the way they turned out and surprisingly, so did my honey. The zig-zag is my favorite. The drippy one on the far right is my honey's favorite.

Well, hello again:I get so darn bored on weekends when my honey is at work and the kids are outside playing, the roomie is napping on the couch. So, I sat down with my tub of nail polishes and my Konad.

Can you tell there was a sale on Wet N' Wild polish at one point? LOL! I love love love my Barielle clear coat, it makes my polish last more than a week. $6 at TJ Maxx!
And the final product?

Red covered with white hearts. If you take a peek at my massive thumb you can see the pretty new scar. Looks years old, doesn't it? It's huge from all the scar tissue because I dropped out of Physical Therapy earlier than I should have. I finally got to go back to work last week. It was awesome, I missed my clients so much and they missed me. I got big hugs when I arrived.
On another note, I apologize for the lousy pictures. One of these days I will learn to use my camera or I will get a dummy-proof camera. :)

Crochet projects GALORE

Now that my thumb is all healed, I'm enjoying the small things in life again. I know that sounds plain silly. But I can crochet again!! Yay! So, I basically made up a pattern in my head and went with it. I'm making my step-daughter a skirt for the summer. She loves brown. So without further adieu:

It will have a dark brown liner, two more rows of the variable brown and be worn with brown tights. I lurv the pattern. If anyone has ever read my posts about crocheting you'll know that I am uneducated on reading and interpreting patterns but I know how to do the stitches. So, I usually make things up in my head. They rarely turn out like planned. However, this did!! I'm excited. I will surely post a photo of the finished product with her wearing it!!

I bought a vintage military trunk from Goodwill last week to use as my coffee table. I only paid $25, but the downside was that it was locked. My roommate finally got the lock popped yesterday and there were two bags of wood chips in there and a newspaper from 1949. I took some (rather lousy) photos.

As I've mentioned before, a lot of things have been happening with me lately that have kept me away from my fabulous bloggers. I missed ya'll. Anyhow, guess it's time to spill the beans--We bought a new house, decided to get married and get pregnant. The house is the one that we've accomplished now. It's beautiful and unfortunately, needs no work. So I will be going project happy for a long time. That kinda makes me happy. We haven't gotten officially engaged yet, no ring. But I have it all picked out and he knows where to get it when he's ready. We plan to marry near the Lewis River next summer. And start trying for a baby soon after. I will be back with project news, and more.....Stay tuned.

Dear Reader(s):Surgery went well. They didn't have to "extend the wound" as they expected. Today was the first day of Physical Therapy, I cried. It's difficult and painful. But something I learned today really cheered me up. One of my favorite my-age-actors is going through the same thing. Shia Labeouf got into a car accident on February 10th and needs 3 surgeries on his left hand. Besides, he's hot. Case-in-point:

Surgery Update

I thought I would keep everyone in the loop. My surgery was postponed until March 2, because my doctor is sick. So, I'm just sitting around waiting until I can start the healing/rehabilitation process. I am using up all my PTO and I have to switch shifts for three weeks. So I am the newest graveyard as of Monday. BOO! I will certainly keep everyone updated.

I've been stuck at home due to an injury to my hand, so I thought I'd make the best of it and completely make-over my blog. What do YOU think? Opinions, please!!!!!

So, I know I'll get e-mails asking what happened if I don't spill the beans, so....I used to store my nail polish in a glass vase, til Saturday. I caught the vase as it was falling from the shelf. It shattered in my hand, so now I have to have surgery ((Thursday)) to repair tendons and nerves in my right thumb.

Weekend Scarves

I really will shut up about scarves for a while after this post, PROMISE! But I finished three scarves this weekend. I'm so excited!!!

Fairly stiff, very WARM scarf. Given to Step-dad's wife for Christmas.

SUPER long camoflauge scarf. My boss requested this one, and it seemed like a fun idea. To get a feel of how long this thing really is, think about this: I'm 5'3", wrapped once this scarf hits the ground. She loves it!

Long burgundy cowl-neck scarf. I picked this yarn up at Wal*Mart on a whim, and I really like it. It has flecks of your primary colors in it. Very cute. No owner yet.

And I bought these shoes because they were $10 and so unique and cute. I mean, tan suede "converse wanna-be's" with faux fur lining. Problem: What in the hell do I wear these with? What would you wear them with?

Mesh Scarf

Conquering my Debt!!!!

True to my New Year's Resolution, I'm working on getting rid of my debt this year. I started the year with $3,078.65 of personal debt. This includes my car, payday loan and apartment debts. That's all accumulated within a year's time. Let's see how long it takes to erase. It's been a month, I'm down to $2,838.40. Not bad, huh?

Something cool that I have discovered lately is the bulk section of Winco.

It's awesome for the cook of the family (my honey).

We get our spices 50-75% just using the bulk section at Winco.

Birthday Care Package

Let me start by telling you a little bit about my best friend Rudolfo, or Rudy as we like to call him. He's 22 and attending BSU for some complicated Engineering crap. We met in high school. Me a senior, him a junior. He was a chubby peach-fuzzed goofball, and I was the new chubby girl at school. We met in Mythology & Bible Lit, which was taught by tiny Asian she-devil. We were partners on some b.s. project, and he gave me his e-mail address to communicate about the project.

Here we are 6 years later with different lives and still best friends. Well, just recently was my bestie's 22nd birthday. I'm here in Washington and he's off in Idaho. So I decided I was going to send him a care package.

I threw some random stuff in there to take up space really. I finished off Mr. Hanky the Christmas Poo from South Park (after starting him two years ago) and threw him in there. I made a card from white card stock and a Dutch Bros. bumper sticker (not kidding). It's main message was, "I'd be much more into your birthday if it were my birthday" and I made a haphazard bullet-list of our memories. I threw some condoms in there with crude sayings on them including "Shag bag" and "Don't be silly, wrap your willy". And I made some truffles, wrapped them in wax paper and tied them off with some string and beads.

The picture quality is terrible, I know. But it's all there. He loved it.

Post Script: I will be posting the recipe for the truffles and my take on them a little after Thanksgiving. I'll also be posting photos of the our Annual Thanksgiving Pot Luck.

If you've been in a store lately you've seen Mary-Kate Olsen on the covers of trash magazines. Some calling her "fat", "bloated" and "unhealthy". BUT at 94 pounds she is healthy and beautiful? Didn't we rule out anorexia and realize it was drugs? Wasn't she in rehab? At 5'2" 94 pounds is not cute, sorry MK.

Really?

At a healthy 130, she's being ostracized.

Other than the ugly shoes and caught-off-guard photo I think she looks great.

What is a perfect physique? Matter of opinion? Matter of time? Matter of society's view?

Look at what's average height/weight/measurements and then look at Barbie's.

Or think about this. In 1983 the Sweet Valley High twins wore “a perfect size 6.” In 2008, they wear “a perfect size 4.” Victoria's Secret models are "a perfect size 2".

Give me a break. The perfect size is the size that YOU feel comfortable with. I'm 5'3" and my goal weight is 130. Go figure. I wanna be as fat as Mary-Kate.

Desk & Chair Revamp Pt. 2

I finished the desk and chair Sunday around 9pm. I apologize that it's taken so long to post pictures. I decided to skip step 2, so as not to spoil the surprise. So, without further ado:

I sanded everything down in preparation for paint, then applied two layers of Black Rustoleum. I let it dry for 10 hours and then sanded and hammered the pieces to my heart's desire.

Desk & Chair Revamp Pt. 1

So, we are getting a new sectional, 42" flat screen LCD, and a new TV stand. So, I decided since it's "out with the old and in with the new" that I wanted to refinish some old furniture. I moved some stuff around, and now I'm creating a reading nook next to the fireplace. SO, I'm painting an old desk and chair black and distressing it. Here is the 1st of a 3-part series to show the progress of the set.

The desk is a hot mess. Missing drawer, stickers, scrapes, scratches, and ugly hardware. The chair just needs some TLC, really. So, I'm painting everything black and distressing it with sandpaper and a hammer. The missing drawer is being turned into a mini book shelf.

Oh, and the inside of the desk is a Organizing Queen's dream!! Look at the awesome compartments!! I plan on storing my laptop in here. Yay!

I decided that instead of buying new hardware I would take some sandpaper to it and then put them back on upside down. See above. I dig it. What do you think??

There will be more to come. The next post will be when everything is painted, and ready for distressing.

Garbage in High Heels

Now, I'm not a writer; but I know good writing. I've finally come across a romance novel I had to put down. We all know how cheesy they can be, but that's the fun part. HOWEVER, I just picked up Trouble in High Heels, and it was garbage. Sorry, Christina Dodd. But there were so many grammatical errors, and even misspellings!! It was a good story idea, don't get me wrong. But I learned nothing more in the 235 pages I read than from reading the back of the book cover. Perhaps one day I'll pick up a second book of hers and give it a try, but for now I'm too frustrated with her editor to think about it. You can click here, and read an excerpt.

Solar Nails & Konad

So, I got my nails done today. I always like to mix it up a bit. So I got glittery white solar tips. CUUTE!

My nail girl was excited that I was taking her suggestion this time. I apologize for the lousy picture, but this is the best picture I could get of the glitter without the flash. I had to take it with my phone. While searching for better pictures on the internet ((0% success)) I found the coolest thing ever. It's called Konad, and it's a metal stencil/stamp combo. They have gorgeous designs. Lookit here--

It's just this nifty little set. This is definitely on my Wish List.

I found this surfing through one of my newest favorite blog, From Head To Toe. Her name is Jen. She is beautiful, has great style, creative fresh ideas & ALWAYS cute nails. She turned me on to this Konad Nail thing-a-ma-bobber. It's wonderful, and I want one!!

Turtle Place in Downtown Vancouver

We were Downtown yesterday. I wanted to go to Spanky's (only to realize they had closed). So we decided to walk down to Turtle Place as we'd heard they put up a new sculpture. Indeed they did! I love it! VERY Pacific NW!

It's a bunch of outdated equipment from Clark Public Utilities, C-Tran, & the department of the city in charge of street signals. It's to remind us to Conserve, Reuse & Recycle. I think it's absolutely genius, not to mention just plain awesome! The very top is an old street light where the water comes from making it a fountain!

Here is the mural, taken before the sculpture was moved here. It now sits right about where that white pick-up is.

I really enjoy the character that Vancouver has to offer, I don't see myself ever moving from here.

**Keep in mind this used to be a transit center. Much better!!

Handmade Halloween Costumes

So, it's almost here!!! Halloween!!! MY favorite holiday of the year. I'm going ALL hand-made this year. I've already decided that I'm going to tweak the idea of the first costume and be a peacock. I'm trying to gather REAL peacock feathers for the skirt though! I have ideas for Marcus and Kyndra but I have to run it by them first! Anyways, handmade halloweens are always the most fun. So I've found some awesome Flickr photos of handmade halloween costumes.

I was talking to a friend on a forum and she told me that she was eating a margarita cupcake she had made earlier that day. So she sent me the link to the recipe on this wonderful blog called Hostess {with the MOSTESS}. I fell in love instantly, and thought these would be perfect for the wedding that me & my love are catering next weekend. We were having a Fish BBQ this weekend, so I knew there'd be plenty of guinea pigs. So off I went to the store to buy ingredients. I replaced soy milk with regular milk and "course sugar" for sour apple cupcake sprinkles. I also doubled the tequila.

I really loved the way they turned out. So yummy, and you get a little wobbly from one. Had to keep them away from the kids.

DMV psychological testing

I think that the DMV should include a psychological test in with the physical driver's test and the written portion. I was sitting at a red light, third car back; in the "going straight lane" and a big red truck with spinners was in the "turning lane". I was being a safe cautious driver minding my own business and all of a sudden I hear screeching noises. I noticed the douche-bag in this red truck was going 30 in reverse. He was trying to get in the lane behind me, on his way coming no less than an inch from slamming into the rear panel of my driver's side. I almost pissed myself. The light turned green, and I got to the front of the line and sat there til the next green light. I was in no hurry. What the hell is wrong with people??

You can use dryer sheets to dust with. AND they repel dust! How cool is that?

We all love a hot steamy shower in the morning. Do you hate wiping your mirror for it fog back over in 30 seconds? Wipe your mirror down with shaving cream before your shower and it won't fog. Swear. I do it all the time. My boyfriend hates me wasting his Barbasol!

I dropped her off for school this morning, and she ran out of the car, up to her friends and was pointing to her bag. YAY!

Letter K

Now, this is my first attempt at this sort of project. To be honest, I'm not too happy with the results.

♥The shape turned out funny.

♥The ribbon is crooked.

♥I overstuffed the middle.

But I guess that's the beauty of hand-made: ONE-of-a-kind. NOT perfect.

Refurbished Messenger Bag

Dahianna, did you know that your name means "valley"? NOW, where can I take this? Valley girl? Nah. Peaks and vallies ((she has huge knockers!!))?? Oh well, on another note--I missed you!!

Okay folks, this is the story of Me & D! I was 19. I was working at Subway and living in a ghetto 1200 sq. ft. $400/mn. apartment in the shittiest part of town. A girl came in while I was closing, so irritated with my lack of confidence in my own future; I was angry-face and throwing veggies around. She told me that I could be an Optician for way more pay+commission. And they TRAIN YOU! How cool! I was all over it. This isn't the girl this story is about. I applied. I got the job. I met my second-in-command manager, Dahianna. Beautiful and sweet Mexican girl about my age. We quickly became inseparable!

Let's fast-forward 2 years. I met this guy, we won't say who. He tried to control me and honestly succeeded a bit. I started taking out all my anger on all my closest friends and realized I'd lost them all. Even Dahianna.

Finally after I realized I deserved better and moved on, I tried making contact with all those old friends again. So, first call? DAHIANNA, naturally! We made up! And now, two years after breaking up with that douche, I can confidentally say that D is one of my best friends.

She is ALWAYS there for me when I need a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, an opinion to ruin my day, anything.

Dahianna--I love you, girl. You're one of the most beautiful people I know. And who could make a cuter baby than this?

And her husband, Sean. Well, he's just a kook. We love him, I couldn't think of a more beautiful couple!! I love you guys!!

Bagby Hot Springs Camping Trip

So, as I promised here are the pictures from the camping trip we took this weekend out at Mt. Hood National Forest.

Just waiting in the car, while the boyfriend picks up supplies for the camping trip.

Best way to keep a kid quite on an hour and a half car ride? Movies.

This is one of the tubs at Bagby Hot Springs, I took this picture from GOOGLE since it was too dark when we went to take pictures. But this was the exact same tub that we were in.

We really did have a great time. We were down there Friday, Saturday and came back mid-Sunday since I had to work at 5pm. The hot springs were a ten-minute drive and an hour hike from our camp site. But MAN, was it worth it. Hot tubs in nature??? LOVELY!

However, there were injuries, as there always are. Including but not limited to two people with cut up feet (from walking barefoot), and my boyfriend fell down a hill, and was pushed down another. A friend of ours fell down a cliff. It was horrible, but there was alcohol to soothe all the ailments. Nothing too serious.

Oh, and our dog went into heat on the trip. Not even 10 months old yet, and she's already a woman. They grow up so fast, don't they? Anyone got a male all-white Amstaff that they want to breed?

All-in-all it was a very fun trip. I was glad to get to spend a whole weekend with my little family unit. The best part was that cell phones didn't work up there, so not bothers. Although I had 6 voicemails and 13 text messages once we got back into cell phone range. I'm an on-call employee with my second job so I was very thankful that my phone didn't work all weekend.

If you want a beautiful, cheap, relaxing weekend away and you live in the Pacific Northwest I would DEFINITELY recommend checking out Bagby Hot Springs. It's right outside of Estacada.

Cross-Stitching

This is something that I haven't done in AGES. I know, I know, "ages" for someone my age is 2-3 years. But nonetheless, even then there weren't such cute creative patterns. Here are just a few that I have found. I just found a new blog that I am completely in love with, called Sprite Stitch. She does all sorts of gaming patterns, the Home Sweet Home Castle pattern is hers. I don't know which one to start on.

Red Bull COLA contains COCAINE (extract)

So, this came out in late May. People freaked. 6 states in Germany have banned Red Bull Cola, not Red Bull. The bans started when a test found 0.4 micrograms per liter of coca leaf extracts in the drink. Germany's Federal Institute for Risk Assessment said that the cocaine level was too low to pose any health risks. Red Bull has come out and said that their drink is "harmless and marketable in both the U.S. and Europe." They also said that similar coca leaf extracts are used worldwide as flavoring. Marketable, yes. But I will not touch a Red Bull Cola after hearing this. According to authorities, the substance requires the beverage to be classified as a narcotic, requiring a license for sale. (Of course, even Coca-Cola didn't become entirely cocaine-free until 1929).
